Following the guidelines set forth in the LCME memo of July 1989, a limited number of clinical electives are available for students from LCME approved medical schools who have completed their clinical curriculum (Medicine, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Surgery, and Family Medicine. Visiting students are generally limited to a maximum of two (2) one month electives. Our students have first priority in selecting rotations and consequently we cannot always accommodate visiting students at the time or in the discipline requested.

Visiting students MUST have current student status in an accredited LCME medical school or AOA Osteopathic medical school. Students will be required to provide Dean's letter with written verification of professional liability coverage and verification of current immunizations (see form below) and TITERS RESULTS (need copy of titer lab results) WE ONLY ACCEPT SENIOR STUDENTS, please do not send an application until you are a senior.
 
Students are, also, required to have health insurance current OSHA training and HIPAA training. Students who rotate through the WVU Medical School from LCME- accredited medical schools or AOA Osteopathic medical schools are required to show the items listed above and also watch a HIPAA video provided by CAMC upon arrival Orientation morning. 

 

I am sorry but we do not accept medical students from non-LCME International medical schools for visiting rotations.

 

 
 We will start accepting applications after April 1 ,2009  we will begin processing visiting student applications in May 2009. Completed applications received before this date will be held on file and processed on a first come first serve basis.  Arrangements may never be solely with the elective supervisor. A fee of $25.00 payable to WVUPC is required of all non-West Virginia residents. West Virginia residents attending Marshall University, West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, or an out of state medical school are exempt from this fee. After the application is processed the visiting student will be notified by e-mail as to whether he/she has been accepted. Limited housing is available, please mark on application.
